Viola A. Barnes Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother LOWELL—Viola A. (Kolesnik) Barnes, 90, died peacefully at home on October 14, 2018, with her family beside her as she took her final journey. A mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother holds their children’s hands for a while, but their hearts forever. She was the beloved wife of Raymond J. Barnes, who died on October 14, 2004, to whom she was married for 54 years. Viola was born in Lowell on March 17, 1928, a daughter of the late John and Theresa (Klocko) Kolesnik. She was a graduate of the Moody Jr. High and Lowell High School. Viola was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church. Viola was employed with Heinz Electric for over 24 years and Pulsafeeder (Prince) for over 22 years. Viola enjoyed reading, playing Bingo, and gambling at Foxwoods. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida and Las Vegas. Viola loved going out with “The Girls” and the “Keno Girls”. Most of all, Viola enjoyed hosting the holidays and spending time with her loving family. She is survived by her son, Gary J. Barnes, Sr. of Lowell and Cindy Barnes of Derry, NH; her daughter, Deborah (Barnes) Chase and her husband Allen of Nashua, NH; her grandchildren, Christopher Chase of Merrimack, NH, Carrieanne Burns and her partner Bill of Nashua, NH; Gary Barnes, Jr. and his wife Alison of Chelmsford, Craig Barnes of Derry, NH, Brittany Barnes of Manchester, NH; her great-grandchildren, Ariel Chase of Portland, ME, Ethan Carpenter, Holden Barnes and Zadie Barnes, all of Chelmsford; her great-great-grandson Julian Ray Chase of Nashua, NH; her special niece and Goddaughter Sandra Simano and her husband Robert of Lowell; her very special friend Louise Gill of Lowell, as well as many nieces and nephews. Viola was the sister of the late Michael Kolesnik and Jane Watson. The Barnes family would like to thank the staff of Lowell General Hospital and Circle Home Hospice Care for the compassion and care they provided. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNRAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL on THURSDAY from 4 until 8 PM. Mrs. Barnes’ Funeral will begin on FRIDAY MORNING at 9 o’clock from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 o’clock at St. Margaret’s Church, 374 Stevens St., Lowell. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
