THOMAS M. LIVINGSTON, JR. Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather LOWELL—Thomas M. Livingston, Jr. 75, the beloved husband of Susan (Blaze) Livingston, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Lowell General Hospital on December 28, 2021, following a brief illness. Tom was born in Lowell on October 9, 1946, a son of the late Thomas M. Sr. and Margaret C. (Waters) Livingston. Tom never strayed far from where he grew up in the Lowell Highlands. He graduated from Lowell High School in 1964 and went on to attend Lowell Tech. On December 21, 1967, he went on a blind date and met his best friend and love of his life, Susan. He spent his entire career in telecommunications, starting at New England Telephone. He went on to work for Digital Equipment Corp. and Bell Atlantic, before finally retiring from Cisco Systems in 2007. In his retirement, he loved spending time with his daughters, son-in-law and grandchildren. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, wintering in Florida and spending time with family and countless friends. In 1968, Tom joined Mount Pleasant Golf Club in Lowell, which would become his second family. He served as a board member for many years, as President from 1996-1998, and was elected as an honorary lifetime member. Tom loved to play in the Thursday Twi-League, his foursome had the first tee time every Sunday morning and he would sneak away whenever he could to play a quick nine. He played in numerous 45’s tournaments, the cribbage league, and enjoyed coordinating bus trips to Foxwoods every spring and fall. The lifesaving work of the Jimmy Fund and its mission was near and dear to his heart. Tom helped organize the Steve Ronan/Tom McKay Jimmy Fund Golf Tournament for over 30 years and was very proud of his role. Tom was a true gentleman. He always had a smile on his face and a great story to share. He was supportive, caring, and he always showed up for his people. Tom’s pride in his family was evident in all that he did. He was an important part of so many lives and will be missed by many. Tom is survived by his wife Susan; his daughters Kathryn A. Livingston of Dorchester, and Ellen L. Short and her husband John of Fairfield, CT; two grandchildren, Jack Short and Megan Short both of Fairfield; his three siblings, Joan Leyland and her husband Henry of FLA, William Livingston and his wife Martha of N. Chelmsford, and Richard Livingston and his wife Kathleen of FLA. Tom also leaves his nieces, nephew, and cousins, his Godson Keith Furfure, as well as many dear friends.
