Mr. Robert E. Kenney

ROBERT E. KENNEY LOWELL, MA — Robert E. Kenney, 66, a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, surrounded by loved ones. Born on July 3, 1958, in Lowell, Bobby – as he was known to his friends (Robert to his family) – was the son of the late William J. (Red) Kenney and Lenore (Sousa) Kenney. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he had a deep passion for golf. Because of his love for and dedication to Long Meadow Golf Club, he was honored with a Lifetime Membership, something he was incredibly proud of. He also served as Club president from 2000 to 2002. His warm, friendly and generous nature made him a cherished figure among his friends and fellow members. Robert dedicated over four decades to his career at Raytheon Co., retiring in 2021 as a Manufacturing Manager. Colleagues and friends alike will remember him for his kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness and sense of humor. He was predeceased by his father and his sister, Kathleen (Kenney) Gavin. Robert is survived by his devoted mother, Lenore; his sister Marjory (Kenney) Smith and her husband, James, of Kennebunk, ME; his brother David Kenney and his wife, Janice, of Nashua, NH. Robert also leaves behind his longtime companion, Martha Donohoe of Lowell; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and several nieces and nephews, including Sean Smith (Raphaelle Silver) of Bangor, ME; Kerry de Bree (David) of Portland, ME; Erin Cavallaro (Daniel) of Westbrook, ME; Ryan Gavin (Erica Wozniak) of Windham, ME; Oliver Kenney (Paige) of Norwood, MA; and Alex Kenney of Nashua, NH. Robert will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of loyalty, generosity and love for life will live on in the hearts of those he touched. A Funeral Mass in his memory will be held on Saturday, February 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell, followed by a burial ceremony at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Tewksbury. A celebration of Robert’s life will follow at Long Meadow Golf Club.
