Patricia J. McCarty Loving Daughter, Mother, Grandmother Sister, Aunt, and Friend LOWELL—Patricia Jay (Vaughan) McCarty, 68, a Highlands resident, passed away on January 16, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. Patricia was born in Lowell on June 1, 1945, a daughter of Lorraine (Savard) Vaughan who survives her, and the late Timothy J. Vaughan. She was educated in Lowell and was a graduate of Keith Hall with the class of 1962 ,where she was a cheerleader and Lowell State College with the class of 1966. Patricia was married on July 1, 1967 to Shaun W. McCarty who survives her. Mrs. McCarty was a school teacher in the Lowell Public School System for over 30 years, serving the majority of her time at the Daley School in the Highlands. Following her retirement, Mrs. McCarty worked at Building Blocks Pre School in Tewksbury. Patsy was a lover of all things crafty. She loved spending time with her grandchildren at Hampton Beach, and watching her nieces and nephews competitions. Some of her favorite places were Scola’s and the Sea Ketch Restaurants. She enjoyed Dunkin Donuts Coffee, ice cream, a good book, watching Jeopardy with her sister, and shopping with her mother. She insisted upon correct grammar. She was fond of lighthouses and playing on her computer. Patsy was a lover of her niece Jenny’s practical jokes. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends and especially loved talking about her children and their work in the Lowell Public Schools. In addition to her mother Lorraine Vaughan, Patsy is survived by her husband Shaun W. McCarty of Tyngsborough; her loving children, Shaun T. McCarty and his wife Karen of Tyngsborough, and Deidre Haley and her husband Paul of Lowell; her adoring grandchildren, Sarah, Sydney, and Shaun Patrick McCarty of Tyngsborough, and Ella, Fiona, and Lola Haley of Lowell; her sisters, Susan Mills of Lowell and Lori McCall and her husband Patrick of Watertown; her nieces and nephews, Jennifer Mills Talbott of Lowell, Jason Mills and his wife Cathy, and Ally, Hannah and Tim McCall of Watertown, and many more nieces and nephews as well as dear friends from College, the Daley, Building Blocks, and Ginghams. FUNERAL NOTICE McCARTY—In Lowell, January 16, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital, Patricia J. (Vaughan) McCarty, 68, a lifelong Lowell resident. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL, on MONDAY, January 20, 2014 from 2 until 5 P.M., with a Funeral Service being held at 4 P.M. in the Funeral Home. Following Patsy’s Funeral Prayers, a reception with family and friends will take place at Mt. Pleasant Golf Club, 141 Staples Street, Lowell.
