Patricia A. Mahoney Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother LOWELL—Patricia A. “Tish” (Quinn) Mahoney, 85, a Belvidere resident, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Joseph P. Mahoney. Patricia was born in Lowell on January 3, 1930, a daughter of the late John P. and Mary Hazel (McQuade) Quinn. She attended St. Patrick’s Grammar School and Lowell High School. Patricia married the love of her life, Joe Mahoney, on April 11, 1952, and together they celebrated 63 years of marriage and raised a beautiful family of five children. She was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church and a lifelong member of the Immaculate Woman’s Guild. “Tish” as she was affectionately known, remained at home to care for her husband, children, and home. True to her Irish way, Mrs. Mahoney was always there to make dinner, no matter what time her family members would arrive at home. She was like a second mother to many over the years, and her home was open to all. Mrs. Mahoney always had to get a hug from whoever came through her door. Tish had a great sense of humor. Everyone loved her. She accumulated friends far and wide, but it was in her home that she was most comfortable, with her family and friends all around her. Her favorite spot was on her back porch, in her chair, where she could see the comings and goings of her home and neighborhood. Tish loved to dance with Joe. At weddings, they would display their dancing abilities to the admiration of all of the guests. Tish also loved Christmastime and the gathering of family. This became more special to her when her grandchildren were born, and later her great grandchildren. B and Pa’s home was a special place for the grandchildren and great grandchildren. “B” was the name she was given by her grandchildren when they were young. B was always extremely proud of her grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. She was the voice of encouragement in the family, and they all knew that they could go to her with anything, without the fear of judgement. She would render good advice with a grandmother’s love. She was always their biggest cheerleader. B was also the benchmark for measuring grandchildren’s height in the family. All of her grandchildren used her to measure and chart their growth. Mrs. Mahoney was very proud that her family was close and stayed close to each other. In her free time, Tish was a passionate BC Eagles Football fan, rain or shine. She loved to read, especially Mary Higgins Clark mysteries. Tish was an excellent Jeopardy player. She loved a bowl of chocolate ice cream every night. She lived a life of faith, family, and love. Her legacy will live on with the examples she has instilled in her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. Surviving Mrs. Mahoney in addition to her husband Joe are her five children, Maureen R. Welch of Tyngsborough, Annmarie M. Kiloski and her husband David of Lowell, Patricia A. McCabe and her husband Thomas of Chelmsford, John P. Mahoney of Lowell, and Joseph P. Mahoney, Jr. and his wife Becky of Lowell; her ten grandchildren, Douglas Welch and his wife Helena, Timothy J. Welch, Heidi P. Upton and her husband Michael, David J. Kiloski, Amy K. Kiloski, Patrick T. McCabe, Thomas J. McCabe, Caeli P. McCabe, Molly Q. Mahoney, and John D. Mahoney; three great grandchildren, Braeden Welch, Quinn McCabe, and Cara McCabe, with her fourth great grandchild, Baby Upton, due to arrive in August. She also leaves her sister, Katherine Ganley and her husband Robert of Londonderry, NH. Patricia was the mother-in-law of the late Thomas J. Welch and sister of the late Rita Quinn, Hazel Quinn, Norma Langlois, and Joan Langlois. FUNERAL NOTICE MAHONEY—Passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015, Patricia A. “Tish” (Quinn) Mahoney, 85. Family and friends are invited to attend her FUNERAL MASS on THURSDAY MORNING, JULY 30, 2015 at 11 o’clock at THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH (Lower Church), 144 East Merrimack St. Lowell.
