Mrs. Mary Ann (Crowe) Nochnuk

Mary Ann Nochnuk beloved sister, aunt, teacher, and friend. Mary Ann (Crowe) Nochnuk, fondly known as Mimi, 74, of Nashua, passed away at her sister’s home in Andover, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family, on the evening of Holy Saturday, April 4, 2026, after a short but courageous battle with colon cancer. She was the beloved daughter of the late John A. and Mary Ann (Grady) Crowe, both of Lowell, Massachusetts. As a child, Mary Ann grew up in Lowell. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart School and the Academy of Notre Dame, class of 1969. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and English from the University of Lowell, and a Master of Education in Elementary Education from Fitchburg State College, classes of 1973 and 1983, respectively. Mary Ann dedicated her life to helping others, spending nearly 50 years with the Lowell Public School System as an elementary, reading, and ESL teacher. Alongside her work in Lowell, she served as an adjunct faculty member at Salem State, Fitchburg State, and Castle colleges, and participated in numerous school system committees. Her dedication to education never faded; even in retirement, she remained a familiar and caring presence as a volunteer at the C.W. Morey Elementary School, where her niece and goddaughter, Suzanne, teaches. Mary Ann was devoted to her family, particularly her nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews, whom she supported with pride, love, and unwavering attention. She marked life’s moments with care, never missing an opportunity to celebrate or encourage. She was also a treasured friend - consistently upbeat, positive, and generous in spirit - remembered for her thoughtful gestures, steady support, and the genuine warmth she shared with everyone around her. One of the greatest joys of her life was the time she spent with her “mini but mighty” best friend, Abbigail Gogonis, who brought light and happiness to her life until the very end. Surviving Mary Ann are her brothers and sister, John A. Crowe, Jr. of Seabrook, New Hampshire, Raymond J. Crowe and his wife Eileen (Benson) of Dennis, Massachusetts, and Martha A. Hyslip and her husband Richard T. Hyslip of Andover, Massachusetts and Hampton, New Hampshire; seven nieces and nephews, Katherine H. Crowe-Pelletier, Karolyne M. Crowe, Meredith E. Crowe, Brendan B. Crowe, Suzanne E. Hyslip, John K. Hyslip, Mariah A. (Hyslip) Gogonis; and eight grand nieces and nephews.
