John W. Quealy Sacred Heart Parishioner, Army Veteran LOWELL—John William Quealy, 84, passed away on Friday afternoon, December 14, 2012 at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley, following a brief illness. John was born in Lowell on May 22, 1928, the only son of the late John and Margaret (O’Malley) Quealy. He was a graduate of the Sacred Heart Grammar School and Lowell High School. John served with the United States Army during the Korean War. As a young man, John worked at the Lowell Cemetery on Lawrence Street. He was later employed for many years as a Corrections Officer, first at Walpole and later at Concord. John was a quiet and polite gentleman. He enjoyed the outdoors and working in his yard. He was well known for his daily walks, where he would see friends and neighbors alike. He likes football and baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox. A lifelong parishioner of the Sacred Heart Church, John was a daily communicant. John’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Life Care Center Staff for the exceptional care they provided John during his brief stay with them. Surviving John are his only sister, Mary Perkins of Lowell; his two nieces, Maureen Sabiski and her husband Alan of Nashua, and Paula Iacono of Chelmsford; her great nieces and great nephew, Melissa Ducharme and her husband David of Tyngsborough, Sara Iacono of Chelmsford, and Timothy Iacono and his wife Darlene of Lowell; his great-great nieces and great-great nephew, Kya Iacono, Emma Ducharme, Neve Ducharme, and Jackson Ducharme. John also leaves his cousins, including his best friend, John Quealey of Lowell. John was the brother-in-law of the late Frederick Perkins who died in 2002. John’s Funeral will begin on TUESDAY MORNING at 9 o’clock from the Funeral Home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 o’clock at HOLY FAMILY PARISH – ST.
