Jacqueline F. Britton Devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother LOWELL--Jacqueline Frances Britton, beloved daughter of the late Francis and Martina Almeida, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday morning after an inspirational battle with cancer. She was a loyal member of the Catholic Church and was an example of a person who truly lived in accordance with her faith. She shared her deep faith in God with her many good friends at Sacred Heart Parish, and then more recently at Holy Family Parish. She was an active member of the Saint Vincent DePaul Society and the Legion of Mary, of which she was president of the Holy Family Parish chapter. Although she will be terribly missed, it greatly comforts her family to know she is with God now. She was a wonderful and devoted wife, married to her husband Frank for 58 years. Their love and the strength of their marriage, even after all these years, was remarkable and inspiring. As a mother, she was supportive, kind, and considerate. She was dependable and an excellent listener; she was always there when you needed her. She lived as an example for her kids. Although she raised five children, she acted as a mother to anyone that came into her home. Neighbors, cousins, and friends were always welcome to swim in the pool, ice skate in the winter, or stay for dinner. She will be deeply missed and survived by her children Frankie and his wife Kelly, Jimmy, Susan, Karen and her husband Brian, and Timmy. She was also recently predeceased by her son-in-law Terry Deignan. Grammy made sure all her grandchildren were loved equally and specially. They all felt like they had a special connection with her and that she valued them as individuals. She took time to know them and she invested in their interests, which is no small task considering she had 12 grandchildren. The majority of her time was spent attending basketball, hockey, softball, baseball, football games, and golf matches. She was at every recital and concert, graduation, and honors ceremony. Her grandchildren report being spoiled by her whenever they visited, which was often. She is survived by her grandchildren Patrick, TJ, Colleen and her fiancé Alex, Megan, Maggie, Michael, Molly, Michael, Jake, Emily, Annie, and Patrick. Jackie also enjoyed traveling. Every year for 20 years Jackie and her husband traveled to Arizona to enjoy the climate and spend time with family there. She especially loved Tucson and Sedona. She also spent years visiting Long Lake in Harrison, Maine. Some of her favorite memories and stories were from these vacations; boating, going out to eat, campfires, playing cards with the grandchildren, and relaxing. After the fact, she loved looking at pictures with her children and grandchildren and reliving these good times. She enjoyed several trips with good friends to Saratoga, the Grand Canyon, and Canada. She was thoughtful, kind, loving, and had a great sense of humor. Her life revolved around caring for and spending time with others, whether that be her family, friends, neighbors, girls club, or church community. She had a unique gift in that she could make anyone feel loved and appreciated. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Jackie is survived by her loving cousin Brenda, and her lifelong friends Barbara and Eddie Kelly, Denny and Barbara Quinn, and her close friends Bernie and Roger Chartrand. A special thank you to Dr. Muto, Dr. Anamur, Beth Moody, and Melissa Cullingford, and all those who cared for her dearly while receiving treatment. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL on FRIDAY from 4 until 8 PM. Jackie’s Funeral will begin on SATURDAY MORNING at 9 o’clock from the Funeral Home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 o’clock at HOLY FAMILY PARISH – ST. MARIE’S CHURCH, corner of Chamberlain and Grafton Sts. Lowell. Her burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
