Mr. Frank E. "Porky" Nobrega

Frank E. Nobrega Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather LOWELL—Frank E. “Porky” Nobrega, 74, a longtime Lowell resident, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Nashoba Valley Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Butterfield) Nobrega, with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage. Frank was born in Lowell on October 28, 1943, a son of the late Manuel and Marjorie (Dockett) Nobrega. He attended the Sacred Heart Grammar School and Keith Academy. Frank was employed as a proud Union Laborer and was a 49 year member of Local 429. During that time Frank served on the Executive Board and was President of Local 429. At home, Frank was a loving husband and great father. He met the love of his life at the Candy Counter of Pollards in Downtown Lowell. They were each other’s world through 54 years of marriage. Frank was a jokester who enjoyed making everyone laugh. If Frank was on your side, he was with you with you, no matter what. He was a fine collector of “stuff” and often had two or three of anything someone may want to borrow. While living in the Highlands, Frank was a parishioner of St. Margaret’s Church. Frank and Barbara were involved with the parish, volunteering on the Pre-Cana Team. Frank was also active with CYO Basketball. He was a life member of the BPOE #87 Lowell Lodge of Elks. He also organized many TAP (Teens Against Polio) Dances. He also was a member of the Portuguese American Club, and enjoyed going to Holy Ghost Park during the summertime. Surviving Frank in addition to his loving wife Barbara are his children, Mary Jo Matroni and her husband Stephen of Hampden, MA, Frank Nobrega and his wife Jessica of Dracut, and Anthony Nobrega of Lowell; his three grandchildren, Matthew Matroni and his wife Shelby, Katelyn Matroni, and Madeline Nobrega; his brother, Walter Nobrega and his wife Judy of California and his sister, Dorothy Taylor of Milford, NH; also several nieces, nephews, cousins, and his faithful dog, Buster. FUNERAL NOTICE NOBREGA—In Ayer, October 27, 2018, Frank E. Nobrega, 74, beloved husband of Barbara (Butterfield) Nobrega. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNRAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL on THURSDAY from 4 until 8 PM. Mr. Nobrega’s Funeral will begin on FRIDAY MORNING at 9 o’clock from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 o’clock at ST. MARGARET’S CHURCH, 341 Stevens St., Lowell.
