Mrs. Cynthia J. Tighe

Cynthia J. (Fitzpatrick) Tighe Cynthia J. (Fitzpatrick) Tighe, 75, of Lowell, MA, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Cynthia was the wife of the late Robert P. Tighe, Sr., with whom she shared 35 years of marriage. Born on October 11, 1949, in Lowell, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary Fitzpatrick. She grew up in South Lowell and was a dedicated parishioner of the Sacred Heart Parish until its closing, then later the Immaculate Conception Church. She graduated from Sacred Heart School and Lowell High School. A dedicated mother, Cynthia raised three children, Kimberly, Robert, Jr., and Jennifer, while being an active part of their school, church, and extracurricular activities. She worked for many years as a Senior Credit Analyst at Wang Laboratories, Converse, and Stanley Tools/Contact East/Test Equity before retiring in 2023. Cynthia loved music, especially classic rock and country. She enjoyed attending concerts and loved country-line dancing. Every summer, she looked forward to vacationing at Salisbury/Seabrook beach and spending time at the Cobbett’s Pond Lake house. Family was incredibly important to Cynthia. She loved attending family gatherings, holidays, and birthday celebrations. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, and they affectionately called her “Grammy.” She attended their baseball games, dance recitals, softball games, gymnastic meets, music recitals, karate tournaments, soccer games, proms, and graduations. Her grandkids adored spending time with her. Cynthia also enjoyed traveling with her family and friends to places like Disney, New York City, Washington, D.C., St. Thomas, the Bahamas, and Aruba. At home, she found peace gardening or reading on her deck in the sunshine, always radiating happiness and joy. Cynthia was a kind, positive, and loving person who always listened, offered advice, and helped others. She was the heart of her family, and her infectious smile and warm spirit will never be forgotten. Her favorite saying was, “Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy that it happened.” Cynthia is survived by her two daughters and son, Kimberly Glekas and husband Peter of Chelmsford; Robert P. Tighe, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth (Rebelo) of Lowell, MA; and Jennifer Medwar and husband David of Chelmsford, and 9 grandchildren; Nicholas and Cynthia Glekas, Laura and Carolyn Medwar all from Chelmsford, MA; Max, Evelyn, Matthew, Joseph and Samuel Tighe all of Lowell, MA. Her three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Charles and Marylou (Milinazzo) Fitzpatrick, Robert and Dorothy (Carlson) Fitzpatrick and John Fitzpatrick; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Balboni and Mary Susan Theriault. Family and friends are invited to Cynthia’s Funeral Mass Sat., March 29, 2025, 12PM at the Immaculate Conception Church, 144 E. Merrimack St. Lowell.
