Mrs. Beatrice T. (Rocha) Kane

Beatrice T. (Rocha) Kane Beloved Sister, Grandmother, Aunt, LOWELL—Beatrice Teresa (Rocha) Kane passed away peacefully on Monday evening, August 26, 2013 at the Palm Center in Chelmsford. She was 99 years old, and was the wife of the late Charles J. Kane and mother of the late Bertha Meservey and Margaret Welcome. Beatrice was born in Lowell on December 9, 1913 one of nine children of the late Henry and Mary (Sousa) Rocha. She was educated in the Lowell Schools. Beatrice was employed by the Ames Worsted Mills. In her retirement, she enjoyed her position as a Senior Companion for CTI where she visited with the elderly. Beatrice liked to read, enjoy a cup of coffee, crochet, and play bingo. As a young girl, Beatrice enjoyed trips to the beach with family and friends. A devout Catholic, she was very religious and had a special devotion to Mary through the Rosary. Beatrice was a very generous and loving person. Surviving Beatrice are her sisters, Elizabeth Machado and Virginia Borodawka, both of Lowell; her brother, Anthony Rocha of Chelmsford; her four grandchildren, Leslie Casey, Leann Hillman, Anthony Welcome, and Michelle Hill; 12 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, 1 great-great-great grandchild; also many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her late husband, Charles and late daughters, Bertha and Margaret, Mrs. Kane was the sister of the late Arthur Rocha, Louis Rocha, Henry Rocha, Frank Rocha, and Florence Mello; and grandmother of the late Brett Oser and Brenda Northup. FUNERAL NOTICE KANE—In Chelmsford, Aug. 26, 2013, Beatrice T. (Rocha) Kane, 99, a lifelong Lowell resident. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL, on FRIDAY MORNING from 9 until 11 A.M. Beatrice’s Funeral Mass will follow on FRIDAY MORNING at 11:30 A.M. at HOLY FAMILY PARISH – ST. MARIE’S CHURCH (Downstairs Chapel), corner of Chamberlain and Grafton Sts. Lowell.
