Mrs. Anne (Petroules) Mercier

Anne Mercier Loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister LOWELL—Anne (Petroules) Mercier, 96, passed away on Sunday morning, May 8, 2016 at Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Warren Mercier who died in 2004. Anne was born in Lowell on June 24, 1919, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Aphrodite (Tsanspoulos) Petroules. She was a graduate of the Lowell Schools. At an early age, Anne worked as an assembler at various shoe manufacturing mills, including Grace Shoe. She married Warren Mercier on March 16, 1944, and together they were married for 60 years and raised five children. Years later, Mrs. Mercier retired from Sylvania Co. where she was a quality control specialist. Anne enjoyed cooking, sewing, and needlework. She also liked playing games on her computer. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters and brothers, and loved playing cards with her grandchildren. Mrs. Mercier is survived by her five children, Patricia Clough of Lowell, with whom she made her home, Thomas Mercier and his wife Mary Anne of Winter Garden, FL, Gary Mercier and his wife Donna of Lowell, Deborah Pol of Lowell, and Steven Mercier and his wife Lynne of Bradenton, FL; her grandchildren, Major Timothy Clough, Ret. USAF, and his wife Elisabeth of England, Carrie Anne Galarneau and her husband Roger Galarneau, Jr. of Fla., Laurie Mercier and Andrew Mercier both of Fla., Miguel Pol of Lowell, Jordan Pol of NY, Shauna Marshall and her husband Ben of Lowell, and Kevin Mercier and his wife Heather of Sarasota, FL; five great grandchildren; her sisters, Dorothy Ouellette and Arlene Arguoyan, and her sister-in-law Theresa Mercier. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Anne was the sister of the late Georgia Mitides, Polly Ottariano, Michael, Peter, Theodore, and James Petroules.
