July 7, 1945 - February 19, 2014

Theodore B. Oxton Loving Husband and Father LOWELL—Theodore Brooks Oxton passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital, following a brief illness. He was 68 years old and was the beloved husband of Leslie J. (Messia) Oxton, with whom he would have celebrated 36 years of marriage March 12, 2014. Theodore was born in Weymouth on July 7, 1945, a son of the late Roy and Alva (Newton) Oxton. He attended Billerica Schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1963, serving for five years. Specialist Oxton was decorated as a Sharpshooter, Marksman, and a Weapons Expert. Mr. Oxton was employed for 35 years as a mechanic for the City of Lowell in the Department of Public Works and later the Water Department. Mr. Oxton held membership in the Lowell Lodge of Elks #87 and the American Legion Post 247 Tyngsborough. Teddy was a funny guy. He was always singing and whistling. A hard worker for all of his life, Teddy had a work ethic second to none. In his free time, he was a ferocious reader and always had his Kindle with him. He loved playing Cribbage and taking trips to Foxwoods to try his luck. He also enjoyed watching all sports on TV, especially the Boston Teams. Teddy is survived by his wife, Leslie J. Oxton of Lowell; his daughter, Jade L. (Oxton) Bernis and her husband Jim of Lowell; his son, Tech. Sgt. Brandon T. Oxton, USAF, and his wife Shannon of Destin, FL, three brothers, four sisters, and many nieces, nephews, friends and family. Mr. Oxton is also survived by his daughter, Katherine Terban. FUNERAL NOTICE OXTON—In Lowell, February 19, 2014, Theodore B. “Teddy” Oxton, 68, a Lowell resident and retired City Mechanic. At his request there will be no calling hours. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, JULY 12, 2014 at 7 PM at the American Legion Post 247 in Tyngsboro, MA. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Teddy’s memory may be made to the American Legion Post 247, Attn. Monthly Veteran’s Meals, 90 Pawtucket Blvd., Tyngsborough, MA 01879.
