Maura A. Burke Loving Mother Maura Ann Burke who was born in New York City in 1941, and who had attended 91st Street (Convent of the Sacred Heart) and graduated from Newton College of the Sacred Heart before working on ballistic missile defense systems and later in the computer industry, passed away in her sleep on May 30, 2014, in Nashua, NH. She had many notable experiences and award winning achievements in her life as a technical editor, including work at Bell Labs on the Safeguard missile defense program and spending the better part of her career at the former Digital Equipment Corporation and Sun Microsystems. She is survived by her sons, James F. Burke and John B. Burke, whose father is the late Franklyn E. Burke, III. Maura’s mother was the late Helen C. Smith of Springfield, MA and New York, NY. Her father was the late James L. Smith of Lowell, MA and New York, NY. Maura will rest in peace at St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell, MA. Family and friends are invited to her MEMORIAL FUNERAL MASS on THURSDAY, JUNE 5, 2014 at 1 P.M. at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, 216 E. Dunstable Road, NASHUA, NH, followed by her burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Gorham Street, Lowell.
