Mary T. Santos Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother PEABODY—Mary T. (McGrath) Santos, 82, passed away on Thursday morning, January 24, 2019 at the Hunt Nursing and Rehab Center, following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Joseph J. Santos who passed away in 1997. She was also the companion of 25 years of John Myers of Peabody, who survives her. Mary was born in Lowell on May 27, 1936, a daughter of the late James and Marie (LeBlanc) McGrath. She was educated in the Lowell Schools. For many years, Mary was a seamstress for Robert Leonard Dress Manufacturing in Lowell. She also designed many dresses for President Lyndon B. Johnson’s daughters. Mary was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church. Living in Peabody for the past twenty five years, Mary worshiped at St. Richard’s Parish in Danvers. Mary loved dancing, especially Ballroom and Polka. She enjoyed traveling to Florida during the winter months. Mary was a volunteer at the Senior Center in Peabody for several years. Mary loved and enjoyed her twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was an avid walker at the North Shore Mall in Peabody, where she also enjoyed shopping. Surviving Mary are her daughter, Mary Jo Coleman and her fiancé Edward R. Cornish; three sons, Joseph R. Santos and his wife Maureen S. Santos of Lowell, Brian K. Santos and his companion Mary Blais of Lowell, and Jeffrey F. Santos and his wife Mary F. Santos of Dracut; three sisters, Carol Foley and her husband Peter of Dracut, Ruthie Santos and her companion Ed Andruss of Andover, Claire Boulanger of Lowell; two brothers, John McGrath and his wife Mary of Lowell, and Walter McGrath and his wife Dorothy “Dottie” McGrath of Tewksbury; her twelve grandchildren, Erica Greenaway, Amanda Nault, Stephanie Coller, David Coleman, Nicole Santos, Rachel Santos, Allison Santos, Joseph “Joey’ Santos, Jeffrey Santos, Brian Santos, Jr., Tayla Santos, Elizabeth Santos, and Blayne Cornish; four great grandchildren, Cody Crawford, Evelyn Nault, Ethan Nault, and Evan Coller; also several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and many dear friends from the Peabody Senior Center. Her Funeral will begin on TUESDAY MORNING at 10 o’clock from the Funeral Home, with her FUNERAL MASS at 11 o’clock at HOLY FAMILY PARISH – ST. MARIE’S CHURCH, corner of Chamberlain and Grafton Sts.
