Mr. Edward M. Gawlik Jr.

April 3, 1944 - February 7, 2022

LOWELL- Edward M. Gawlik Jr., 77, passed away on February 7, 2022 at Lowell General Hospital, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Janet E. (Garboski) Gawlik who died in 2017. Edward was born in Lowell on April 3, 1944, a son of the late Edward M. Gawlik Sr. and Phyllis M. (Gudalis) Gawlik. He was raised in Tewksbury and was a graduate of the Tewksbury Schools. Following his college graduation, Edward began his professional career as a Surveyor. He was employed as a surveyor for 40 years, spending most of his career and retiring from Robert M. Gill & Associates in Lowell. Edward loved his job and was a hard worker. Edward was a member of the Dom Polski Social Club, the Lithuanian Club, Lowell VFW and the US Bunting Club. He enjoyed playing cards doing crossword puzzles. Edward was a fanatical Red Sox and Pats fan. Nothing brought Edward more joy than spending time with his family. He adored his grandchildren and loved his role as a Grandfather. Edward was a loving man and will be missed greatly by his family and friends. Edward is survived by his daughter, Shannon O’Neill and her husband Michael; his son, Edward M. Gawlik, III and his girlfriend Kate May; his two grandchildren, Joshua M. and Madison R. O’Neill; his brother Kenneth Gawlik; his sisters, Barbara Fortier and her husband Normand, and Joan Lemire-Lemoine ; also many nieces and nephews. Edward was the father of the late Darlene J. Gawlik who died in 2009, and the grandfather of the late Stephanie L. McLaughlin (O’Neill) who died in 2018.
