Alida “Lee” Furtado Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Sister LOWELL--On December 19, 2015, Alida “Lee” (Lamarre) Furtado of Lowell, Massachusetts passed away at the age of 76. She was born on September 4, 1939, the daughter of the late William Andrew Lamarre and Helen Cecilia (Nison) Lamarre, of Lowell. Lee was a graduate of the Sacred Heart Grammar School, Lowell High School, class of 1956, and Leland Powers School of Communication. Lee passed away comfortably at the home of her daughter, Theresa “Terry” Gagne and her husband Roger, surrounded by loved ones, after losing her battle to Alzheimer’s Disease. Her beloved husband of 51 years, John Furtado of Tewksbury/Lowell, preceded her in death in 2010. She will be missed by her children Terry and her husband Roger, Andrew “Andy” Furtado and his wife, Mary Ellen (Hughes) of Dracut, Paula (Furtado) Lyford and her husband Bruce of Conover, NC, John “Jack” Furtado, Jr. and his fiancé Deborah Senna of Lowell; her eight grandchildren, Kevin Lyford and his wife Victoria, Emily Lyford, Casey Furtado, Christopher Gagne and his wife Jessica, Michael Gagne, Andrew “AJ”, Jr., Adam and Matthew Furtado; her two great-grandchildren, Brennan Gagne and Sophia Lyford; two brothers, William “Buddy” Lamarre of Greenville, NH and Edward “Eddie” Lamarre of Dunstable; her sister-in-law, Ann MacLellan; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lee also leaves many dear friends, especially “The Girls”. Lee was the sister of the late Teresa Norton and Robert Lamarre, and sister-in-law of the late Jean Lamarre, Pauline Lamarre, Marlene Lamarre, and Mark Norton. Lee was a devote Catholic and an active member of the Sacred Heart Church and then the Holy Family Parish. She worked at WCAP Radio, the American Heart Association, Wang Laboratories and the Sacred Heart Parish. Lee and John were group leaders for the Holy Family Travelers for over ten years. She had great fun with “The Girls”, whether local or traveling. Lee loved being a part of Play by Players Theater Group and Sacred Heart Parish live productions. She loved to play the piano while her grandchildren sang along. Her overall love of music brought her great happiness during her life, and comfort during her illness. Lee’s family would like to acknowledge, with deep appreciation, the staff of Chelmsford Elder Services Day Program for their friendship. FUNERAL NOTICE FURTADO— in Dracut, December 19, 2015, at her daughter’s home, Alida “Lee” (Lamarre) Furtado, 76, wife of the late John J. Furtado. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL on TUESDAY from 4 until 8 PM. Lee’s FUNERAL will begin on WEDNESDAY MORNING at 9 o’clock from the Funeral Home, followed by her FUNERAL MASS at 10 o’clock at HOLY FAMILY PARISH – ST. MARIE’S CHURH, corner of Chamberlain and Grafton Sts. Lowell. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
