Wilfredo Rivera. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Wilfredo Rivera (Freddy) on Saturday June 8, 2024. Wilfredo was born on May 11, 1953 in Arroyo, PR to the late Domingo Ortiz and the late Fermina Rivera. He spent a few years in PR before his family decided to move to New York and then later spent his remaining years as a resident of Lowell, MA. Wilfredo was a beacon of light whose heartfelt personality brought immeasurable joy to the lives of those who knew him. His departure leaves a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished forever. Freddy, was a man of many talents and passions. A veteran who served his country with honor and pride. His positive outlook on life, coupled with his unwavering strength and love for his family, defined him as a true pillar of support and compassion. Freddy was the definition of “home body”. He loved to be in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by the people he loved. He spent most days playing his guitar, working on cars, watching movies or cooking up a good meal. No matter what he was doing, he always executed a sense of joy and happiness. Father, son, uncle, brother,grandfather, great grandfather and husband, Freddy played these roles like a true hero. Leading our family with love, Freddy showed us the way of life. His marriage to Carmen was the foundation of our family. Their relationship was a source of strength and comfort, a partnership built off love, trust and unwavering support during life’s ups and downs. When the world was against them they knew they had each other. Those who had the privilege of knowing Freddy will remember him as a man who radiated positivity and happiness. His infectious smile, kind heart, and willingness to lend a helping hand made him a beloved friend and respected family man. Despite him not being physically here with us, his spirit will live on through the memories and hearts of all who have crossed his path. His legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to inspire and uplift those who carry his memory forward. Mr. Rivera is survived by his loving spouse Carmen Benitez and children Josephine Benitez, Carmen Benitez, Pedro Benitez, and Jose Benitez. Father figure to Josie Benitez, Jesus DeJesus Jr., Robert Coleman and Mariaelena DeJesus. Siblings Jimmie Rivera, Miguel Rivera, Margarita Rivera, Ramon Rivera, Domingo Rivera, Marco Rivera. Many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Wilfredo was preceded in death by his son Esteban Benitez, sisters Daisy Rivera and Carmen Rivera, and brothers Bobby Rivera and Jose Rivera. In honoring the life and memory of Wilfredo (Freddy) Rivera, let us cherish the moments shared, the lessons learned, and the love that he so generously provided . May his soul rest in eternal peace, knowing that he made a lasting impact on the lives of those he touched.
