Stephanie McSwiggin Loving Wife and Mother LOWELL—Stephanie (Jarek) McSwiggin, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, April 20, 2015 at the Northwood Rehabilitation Healthcare Center in Lowell, following a short illness. Mrs. McSwiggin was the loving wife of the late Ret. Lowell Fire Lieutenant Charles F. McSwiggin, to whom she was married to for 58 years. Stephanie was born in Lowell on May 21, 1925, a daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Krystiniak) Jarek. Stephanie was a lifelong resident of the Christian Hill Neighborhood. She attended the Lowell Public Schools, graduating from Lowell High School in 1942, where she was a 1st Lieutenant in the Girl Officer Regiment. She then attended and graduated from Lowell Commercial College. Upon graduation, she was employed in the Merrimack Mills as an administrative assistant. After her children were grown, Mrs. McSwiggin worked as a book keeper at Hanover Leather and Findings, until her retirement. Mrs. McSwiggin is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth “Betty” McSwiggin of Seabrook, NH; her two sons, Charles B. McSwiggin of Millerton, NY and Robert McSwiggin and his wife Patricia of Dracut; her four grandchildren, Peter, James, and Thomas McSwiggin of Dracut and Meredith Hamelin of Hudson, NH; three great grandchildren, Shayla, Cheyenne, and Trevor Hamelin; Stephanie is also survived by her brother-in-law, Frederick McSwiggin, and many nieces and nephews. Stephanie was also the sister of the late Jennie Buczynski and Sophie Walsh. Stephanie’s children would like to express their gratitude to Chris and Dick Gaiero and Patricia Regan for the care towards their mother for twelve years, as well as the Nurses and Nurse’s Aides at Northwood.
