Mrs. Rose M. Nadeau

Rose M. Nadeau LOWELL- Rose M. Nadeau, 92, of Lowell, MA, passed away surrounded by her loving family on February 22, 2024. Born in Lowell on July 17, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Elzeard and Blanche (Roy) Lemelin and stepdaughter of the late Rose (Plante) (Belisle) Lemelin. Rose was the loving wife of the late Donald N. Nadeau with whom she was married for 64 years before his passing in 2014. Rose grew up in Lawrence and Tewksbury, MA. She and Donald resided in Tewksbury and South Lowell, MA where they raised their family and later moved to Lakeland, Florida then on to Derry, NH. Rose came full circle in her last years when she moved back to her home in South Lowell. Rose worked at the local mills in the Lowell area, finishing her career at the Faulkner Mills in Billerica, MA. Rose and Don attended weekly Mass at St. Marie Church in South Lowell. Rose was involved in the yearly church Christmas Fairs and she loved a good game of BINGO. Rose hosted many holiday dinners at her home for her extended family. She enjoyed serving and sharing many of her delicious recipes. She continued cooking and baking throughout her life and recently shared her tomato and piccalilli canning techniques. Rose loved to knit and was best known for her custom slippers which she called poupons. She loved to give them away to anyone who came into her circle. She also made baby bonnets and afghans to share with local nurseries, nursing homes and fairs. Rose was always busy with a creative project. Surviving Rose are her children, David and his wife Patricia (McNeil) Nadeau of Tewksbury, MA, Paul and his wife Lisa (Becker) Nadeau of Jacksonville, FL, Norm and his wife Tracy (Rousseau) Nadeau of Lowell, MA with whom she resided, and Lisa Hamel and her husband Richard of Derry, NH. She also leaves her grandchildren, David (Kathy Debrecini) Nadeau, Courtney Nadeau, Kelsie (Michael) McHale, Stephanie (Tony) Broughton, Bryan, Justin, Corey, Logan (Caitlin Burke) Nadeau, and Christopher Hamel. Rose leaves her great grandchildren, Ashton McGloughlin, Ayden and Gabriel Broughton, and Madelyn McHale, and many loving nieces and nephews. Rose will be truly missed by her loyal, loving sidekick, Beesly. Rose leaves her siblings, Robert (Blanche) Lemelin, Edward (Jackie) Lemelin, Theresa Doherty, Lorraine Levesque, and Gerard (Helen) Lemelin. She was predeceased by her siblings and spouses as well as her in-laws, Doris and Henry Clermont, Beatrice and Raymond Gelineau, Roger and Celine Lemelin, Claire and Raymond Hamel, Robert Doherty and Alfred Levesque, Lionel and Dorothea Nadeau, Raymond and Honey Nadeau, Sandra Nadeau, and Pauline and John Jankowski. Family and friends are invited to attend Rose’s FUNERAL MASS on TUESDAY MORNING, MARCH 12, 2024, at 11 o’clock at HOLY FAMILY PARISH – ST. MARIE’S CHURCH, corner of Chamberlain and Grafton Sts, Lowell. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chelmsford. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Rose’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
