Robert H. Davidson Beloved Father and Grandfather BILLERICA & WELLS, ME—Robert Hayes Davidson, 82, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Emerson Hospital in Concord following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Eleanor Rose (Sullivan) Davidson who died in 1995. Robert was born in Rochester, NH on February 26, 1934, a son of the late Joseph R. and Marion (Hayes) Davidson. He attended the Billerica Schools and was a 1953 graduate of Howe High School. He also attended Barber School following High School. While at Howe High School he played baseball, and football for four years. He was very proud of the Howe Indians when they won the November 1952 Thanksgiving Game, against the longtime rival Chelmsford team, to win the State Championship title. Mr. Davidson was a Navy Veteran, serving as a member of the Seabees from 1952 – 1956. In 1956 Robert married the love of his life, Eleanor Rose Sullivan. Together they celebrated 39 years of marriage. Robert was employed for over 30 years with the Town of Billerica School Department. He was a Senior Custodian for 23 of those years at the Marshall Middle School. Robert was also a Barber for 15 years. He continued his love of athletics later in life as an avid hiker and ski instructor for 14 years at Gunstock Mountain. He conquered Tuckerman’s Ravine at Mt. Washington and spent time on the slopes instructing at Whiteface, Lake Placid, New York. Robert enjoyed spending time with his good friends fishing, jet skiing, paddle-boarding, kayaking with his grandchildren, snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle, and playing weekly pool games. Mr. Davidson always said that age was just a number; life was all about staying active, and keeping a positive attitude. Surviving Mr. Davidson are his children, Karen Davidson-Heller and her husband James of Lowell, John Davidson and his wife Marianne of Nashua, NH, and Robert Davidson and his wife Gina of Chelmsford; five grandchildren, Jonathan Heller, Aaron Heller, Scott Davidson, Rachel Davidson, and Brian Davidson; his brother-in-law, Donald Pickering of Wells, ME; his niece Lisa Pickering and nephew Craig Pickering, as well as many nieces and nephews on the Sullivan side of the family; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Patricia Pickett, Barbara McCaffrey, William Sullivan, and Thomas Sullivan. Robert was the brother of the late Elaine Pickering and brother-in-law of the late Paul Sullivan, Charles Sullivan, and Dorothy Rogers. FUNERAL NOTICE DAVIDSON—Died in Concord, July 1, 2016, at Emerson Hospital, Robert H. Davidson, age 82, of Wells, Maine, a former longtime Billerica resident and the beloved husband of the late Eleanor R. (Sullivan) Davidson. At his request, private family services took place at the Ocean View Cemetery, Wells, Maine.
