OBITUARY Rita M. Burgeson Loving Mother and Grandmother HUDSON, NH—Rita M. (Christman) Burgeson, 84, of Hudson, a former longtime resident of South Lowell, passed away on Friday evening, May 17, 2013 at the Fairview Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Winston A. Burgeson, Sr. who died on January 17, 1997. Rita was born in Lowell on June 13, 1928, a daughter of the late Omer and Florence (Gendreau) Christman. She was educated in the Lowell Schools. Rita married Winston A. Burgeson on September 5, 1954 at St. Marie’s Church in South Lowell. Rita and Winston celebrated over 42 years of marriage and together they raised five loving children. Rita was a longtime parishioner of the former Sacred Heart Church. Rita loved crafts and enjoyed making Christmas crafts for every member of her family. She especially loved word search books. An avid sports fan, Rita was fond of the Red Sox, football, and car racing. She loved to travel to Tennessee, and made annual trips during the winter months. While in Tennessee, she enjoyed and attended a Titan’s football game and acted as the “lifeguard” while sitting around the pool. Rita is survived by her five children, Dennis Burgeson of Dracut, Deborah Lafferty and her husband Warren “Bud” of Pelham, NH, Winston A. Burgeson, Jr. of Tyngsboro, Paula Lafferty and her husband Brien of Hudson, NH, with whom she made her home, and Deeane Anderson and her husband Sam of Forsyth, GA; four grandchildren, Brien Lafferty, Warren Lafferty, III, Ashley Lafferty, and Adam Lafferty; her brothers, Renee Christman and his wife Dolores of Lowell, and Raymond Christman and his wife Alice of Lowell; her sister, Lorraine Fauvel of Dracut; her brothers-in-law, Arthur Desjardins of Lawrence, Roland Giguere of Lowell, and Leslie Burgeson of Florida. Rita is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins, especially Monica, Missy, and Billy Burgeson of Tennessee. Rita was the sister of the late Violet Morin, Pauline Dorval, Ailine Desjardins, Lucille Giguere, and Wilfred Christman. Rita’s family would like to recognize and thank the nurses and all of the medical staff at Fairview Nursing Home for the exceptional care their mother received during her stay with them.
