Raymond P. Cummings St. Michael’s Parishioner, East End Club Member LOWELL—Raymond P. Cummings, 76, a resident of Dracut and the beloved husband of Evelyn M. (Conlin) Cummings, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, October 17, 2012. Raymond was born in Lowell on July 28, 1936, a son of the late Mary (Griffin) Cummings. He grew up in the Acre and attended St. Patrick’s Grammar School and Lowell High School. For many years Ray worked as the cafeteria manager at the former Wang Labs and later at Raytheon. Ray and his wife Evelyn just recently celebrated their 42nd Wedding Anniversary on October 3, 2012. A Lowell resident for nearly all his life, Ray had lived in Dracut for the past seven years. Raymond was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church. He held membership in the East End Club and had been awarded the club’s “Man of the Year Award” for his good works and deeds in the community. He enjoyed playing 45’s at the Club. Ray was also active with Camp Paul – The Paul Center, and was a generous volunteer. He was the type of guy who would do anything for anybody and was always willing to lend a hand or his time and talents to anyone in need. In his earlier years, Ray played softball on the common. In his leisure time, Ray enjoyed cooking. He was also a big sports fan. If you knew Ray Cummings, then you knew the smile he always wore when he greeted you. Ray was a true family man and spending time with his two grandchildren Dylan and Trevor was top on his list. Ray is survived by his wife Evelyn (Conlin) Cummings of Dracut; his daughter Kerry (Cummings) Johnson and her husband Eric of Dracut; his two grandchildren Dylan and Trevor Johnson; his sister-in-law, Louise Masterson of Lowell; his brother-in-law Arthur Goulet of Nashua; several nieces, nephews, and one cousin, Carrie Cummings of Lowell. Mr. Cummings was the brother of the late Judith Goulet and John (Rusty) Cummings, and brother-in-law of the late Leo and Noella Conlin, Francis J. Masterson, and Barbara Conlin. Raymond’s family would like to recognize and thank the staff at Fairhaven Health Care Center for the exceptional treatment he received during the past month. Mr. Cummings' Funeral will begin on SATURDAY MORNING at 10:30 A.M. from the Funeral Home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 A.M. at ST. MICHAEL’S CHURCH, Bridge St. at Sixth St. Lowell. His burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
