Pauline S. Whittaker Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Pauline S. (Maher) (Hartigan) Whittaker, passed away at the home of her daughter in Waynesville, NC on October 4, 2010. Pauline was born on January 7, 1928 in Lowell, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Thomas F. and Mary (Murphy) Maher. Pauline was the widow of Paul Whittaker of Lighthouse Point, Florida, where they made their home. Pauline was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She lived for her family, which was her greatest accomplishment. Pauline lived her life with grace and dignity. She was a strong, courageous, wonderful woman. Her surviving children are Jennifer Clemons and her husband Jim of Waynesville, NC, Stephen J. Hartigan and his wife Wanda of Tyngsboro, Gregory Hartigan and his wife Diane of Gloucester, Leslie Hartigan of Florida, Thomas (Tucker) Hartigan of Lowell, Susan Lee and her husband John of Lowell, and Lisa Fox and her husband Joseph of Florida; her surviving grandchildren, Christopher Converse, Lindsay Converse, Stephen M. Hartigan, Dr. Erin Hartigan, Jessica Hartigan, Laura Heckman, Mark Scaplen, Meghan Lee, Katy Lee, Matthew Lee, Jeffrey Grenier, Justin Grenier, Natalie Fox; her great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Edwards, Logan, Liam, and Ella Heckman, Kelsey, Emma, Stephen, (Trey) and Jayden Hartigan, Finn and Marley Converse, Damian Cobb, and Hadley Scaplen. She is also survived by her brother, Bob Maher and his wife Anna of Amesbury and Florida; her sisters-in-law Ronnie Rita Maher of Peabody, and Agnes (Hartigan) Ahearn of Lowell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pauline was pre-deceased by her former spouse, Stephen F. Hartigan, daughters Paula J. Converse and Roberta Armiger, grandson Peter Scaplen, a sister, Mary Fitzpatrick, a brother, Thomas Maher, and a special best friend, Red Moriarty. FUNERAL NOTICE WHITTAKER—In North Carolina, October 4, 2010. Pauline S. (Maher) (Hartigan) Whittaker, 82, a former longtime Lowell resident. At Pauline’s request, visiting hours will be private for her family. All friends and family are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on SATURDAY MORNING, Oct. 9, 2010 at 9:30 A.M. at ST. MARGARERT’S CHURCH, 374 Stevens St. Lowell. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
