Michael H. Shanley Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather LOWELL—Michael Henry Shanley, the beloved husband of Joyce M. (Martin) Shanley, passed away on Wednesday morning, February 22, 2012 at Saints Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was 70 years old. Michael was born in Tewksbury on December 26, 1941, a son of the late William and Anna (Paige) Shanley. Mr. Shanley received his education in the Tewksbury schools. For most of his professional life, Michael was a Master Barber, owning his own barber shop in the Collinsville section of Dracut. Later on he started a successful painting company, Affordable Painting Services. An avid antique collector, Mr. Shanley loved to travel and search out flea markets and yard sales to add to his collections. He was a New England sports fan through and through, and enjoyed watching the Patriots every Sunday. He also enjoyed a trip to Rockingham Park to watch the horses run. Another passion of Michael’s was working on and restoring old cars, especially his T-Bird. A parishioner of the Sacred Heart Church until its closing, Michael and his wife Joyce attended St. Margaret’s Church in the Highlands. Mr. Shanley enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Surviving Mr. Shanley in addition to his wife Joyce are his four children, Leah Shanley and her longtime companion John Newell, Jr. of Lowell, Michael Shanley and his wife Kathy of Quincy, Pat Shanley of Tewksbury, and Dan Shanley and his wife Linda of Bell Canyon, CA; eleven grandchildren, Sean Arpin, Christian Bozek, Breanna Newell of Lowell, Rianna and Kelcy, Christa, Madison, Paige, and Michael Shanley all of Quincy, and Nicole and Jacquilin Shanley of Bell Canyon, CA; a brother, Joseph Shanley; two sisters, Dorothy Menard and Doris Gauthier; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Hand of Westford and Cindy Martin of Englewood, FL; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including his dear friends Billy Teague of Lowell and Billy Swenski of Dracut. Mr. Shanley was the brother of the late William, Stephen, and James Shanley, and Rita (Rospond) Feeney and Ann Cavanaugh. FUNERAL NOTICE SHANLEY—In Lowell, February 22, 2012 at Saints Medical Center, Michael H. Shanley, 70, beloved husband of Joyce (Martin) Shanley. Family and friends are invited to his Memorial Gathering at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL, on MONDAY MORNING from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M. His burial services will follow at 11:30 in St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel, Riverneck Rd. Chelmsford.
