MELODY J. ALLEN Loving Wife, Daughter, Mother, Nana, Sister, Aunt, and Friend LOWELL—Melody (Gagnon) Allen, 65, passed away peacefully at her home on July 10, 2026, surrounded by all of the people who loved her. Melody was the cherished wife of Charles Allen, Jr. with whom she was married for 46 years, and together for 50. Melody was born in Winchester on August 4, 1960, a daughter of the late George L. Gagnon and the late Barbara L. (Fowlie) Dearden. She grew up in the Highlands neighborhood of Lowell, and was a graduate of the Greater Lowell Vocational High School. Melody ran a home day care for many years, while also working as a waitress at Denny’s. Later on Melody was employed as a cook at Emerson Hospital, until her retirement in 2024. Melody was an avid Red Sox fan. She loved Bingo, camping, and not being able to say NO to her grandchildren. Melody helped raise children that were not her own, always treating them like they were. She loved attending both school and sporting events for her grandchildren. Melody’s family would like to acknowledge and thank the team at the Oncology Center at Lahey Burlington for their compassion and care. Melody always found the strength to bake them her amazing Banana Bread! Melody is survived by her husband Chuck; her step-father Howard Dearden; her children, Rebecca Frascarelli and her husband Jason of Tyngsboro, Sara Plouffe of Lowell, Charles E. Allen III and his wife Jennifer of Manchester, NH, and Emily Johnson of Chelmsford; her grandchildren, Emma, Charlie, Jonathan, Alivyana, Ella, Makenzie, Aubriella, Jax, and Lilliany; her siblings, Pamela Bedard, Keith Gagnon, Linda Thibeault, Kelly Pelletier, Laurie Machos, Angel Miller, and her dearest sister and best friend, Mary Jo Christian and her husband Brian. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Melody was the sister of the late Cheryl Gagnon, the niece of the late Lillian Allen, and life long best friend of the late Sue Rice.
