Maria H. Cunha Loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother St. Anthony’s Parishioner LOWELL—Maria H. (Silva) Cunha, 66, the beloved wife of Agostinho Cunha, passed away on Friday morning, February 17, 2012 at the Northwood Nursing Home. Maria was born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal on July 26, 1945, a daughter of the late Francisco and Angelina P. (Silva) Machado. Maria received her education in Graciosa. Maria came to the United States in 1970 and settled in Lowell. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church. For many years, Maria worked as an assembler at Old Mother Hubbard Co. in Lowell. Maria enjoyed cooking and could often be found in the kitchen preparing traditional Portuguese food for family and friends. She also enjoyed knitting and traveling, especially back to the Azores. Maria loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Cunha is survived by her husband Agostinho of Lowell; a son, Steven Cunha of Lowell; a step-daughter, Diane Cunha of Woburn; five grandchildren, Steven Cunha of Lowell, Nick Smart, Melissa Smart, Amanda Shirley, and Robert Hickey; a sister, Aldina Santos and her husband Sarafin of Portugal; also three nephews, cousins and friends. FUNERAL NOTICE CUNHA—In Lowell, February 17, 2012 at Northwood Nursing Home, Maria H. (Silva) Cunha, 69, beloved wife of Agostinho I. Cunha. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL on MONDAY from 4 until 8 P.M. Maria’s Funeral will begin on TUESDAY at 12 NOON from the Funeral Home, followed by her Funeral Mass at ST. ANTHONY’S CHURCH at 1 P.M. in the AFTERNOON. Burial will follow in the Lowell Cemetery.
