Mrs. Margaret H. St. Peter

Margaret H. St. Peter Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend LOWELL--Margaret H. (Dartley) St. Peter, 82, a resident of Lowell and the beloved wife of the late Gerald R. St. Peter, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, November 8, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born in Bayside, Queens, New York on June 26, 1939, daughter of the late Walter E. and Mary Carlotta (Dowling) Dartley and sister of the late Walter E. (Jay) Dartley, Jr. She was a graduate of St. Agnes Academic High School in College Point, Queens, New York. Margaret married her sweetheart, Jerry, on May 28, 1960 at St Margaret’s Church in Lowell. She and Jerry raised their family in Lowell, surrounded by Margaret’s extended Dowling family. After 21 years of service, Margaret retired from UMass Lowell, Payroll Department. She was a proud member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians and of the Immaculate Conception Church Women’s Guild. Margaret, known to friends and family as Peg, will be fondly remembered for her generous spirit of giving and celebrating those she loved. Peg’s favorite motto, “Seize the Day” was genuinely embedded in all she did. Peg’s favorite memories were of Long Beach in Rockport, MA, where she spent many summers with her family. You could find her sitting in her favorite beach chair with Jerry by her side, before enjoying a late afternoon margarita and playing games of cribbage with her grandchildren and dear friend, Mrs. Ann Fox. Above all else, Peg cherished each moment spent with her grandchildren, and as she always said, “once a mother, always a mother”. Surviving Margaret are her daughter, Patricia M. (St. Peter) Doherty and her husband Jeffrey D. Doherty of Chelmsford; her son, Gerald W. St. Peter and his wife Jamie R. St. Peter of Ft. Worth, TX; her son-in-law John F. Carey, III of Chelmsford, husband of Margaret’s late daughter, Ann Margaret (St. Peter) Carey. Margaret leaves nine grandchildren: Patrick and Bridget Doherty, Elizabeth, Katherine, Brendan, and Caroline Carey, all of Chelmsford, and Lylah, Beckham, and Sonoma St. Peter, of Ft. Worth. Margaret also leaves her sister-in-law Patricia A. Dartley of Lowell, brother-in-law Ronald F. St. Peter of Rye, NH, two sisters-in-law, Mary (St. Peter) Baker of Lake Worth, FL, Beverly (St. Peter) Wiley of Walla Walla, WA and Dorothy St. Peter of Hudson, NH, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and Family May call on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 10 AM until 12 NOON at the THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, 144 East Merrimack St., Lowell. Her FUNERAL MASS will begin at 12 NOON.
