Mr. Lloyd S. Laurin

Lloyd S. Laurin Loving Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather LOWELL—Lloyd S. Laurin passed away peacefully at Blaire House in Tewksbury on April 7, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was 86 years old. Lloyd was the beloved husband of the late Muriel (Cole) Laurin, who passed away on February 10, 2017. Lloyd was born in Lowell on January 27, 1932 and was the son of the late Harold and Blanche (Strowburg) Laurin. He graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1946. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1951. Mr. Laurin served for four years during the Korean War. He was a machinist and worked for his father in Laurin Machine Shop later being self employed as the owner and operator of Laurin Laboratory. Mr. Laurin was a member of the Fellowship United Methodist Church on Moore Street. Following their retirement, Lloyd and Muriel moved to Polo Park in Davenport, Florida. There, they spent the next twenty years enjoying their retirement. He loved spending time with his family, camping and traveling, making thirteen trips to Bermuda to celebrate Thanksgiving with their AAA Family. Lloyd loved playing softball and bowling for various church leagues and playing golf. At any given time he could be found exploring flea markets and yard sales, or even just going for a leisurely walk. Lloyd is survived by his five children and their families; his three daughters Joy and John Sorota of Lowell, Jan and James Conway of Dracut, and Jill and Dave Sutherland also of Dracut; his two sons, Jay Laurin of Orlando, FL and Jeff Laurin and Kelly (Sullivan) Laurin also of Orlando; 12 grandchildren, Kerri Sorota Patenaude, Keith Sorota, Kristin (Sorota) McClary, Kelsey (Sorota) Beharry, Kevin Sorota, Tracy (Conway) Dalton, Kayla Conway, Jodi (Sutherland) Heffernan, Scott Sutherland, Justin Sutherland, Jennifer Laurin, and Jeremy Laurin; 13 great grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew. Lloyd was also the brother and brother-in-law of the late Beverly and Henry Sykes. Mr. Laurin’s family would like to thank the staff at Blaire House for their compassionate and loving care shown to their father during his stay.
