Leo Francis Tighe, Jr. …..of Lowell, Tighe Oil Company; 73 Leo F. Tighe, Jr., a life-long resident of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning, Feb. 4, 2016. He would have celebrated his 74th birthday on Saturday, Feb. 6th. Leo was born in Lowell, the son of the late Leo F. Tighe, Sr. and the late Beryl (Dupree) Tighe. He was a graduate of the Sacred Heart School and Lowell High School, class of 1961. Leo was a long-time communicant of the Sacred Heart Church in Lowell. Leo was a skilled heating technician licensed as a master gasfitter working in the family business, Tighe Oil Co. for 35 years and at Raytheon Co. for 20 years. After retirement he continued to assist family and friends with their heating needs. If he wasn’t working or helping someone out, then he was out on the golf course with his buddies. Leo had a big heart and could easily put a smile on your face with his great sense of humor. Leo enjoyed life; He was an avid NE Patriots fan, had a passion for antique corvettes. Leo was a Life Member of the Lowell Lodge of Elks, and a long-time member of Long Meadow Golf Club. Leo is survived by his three children, Shaun P. Tighe and Kathleen A. Tighe of Lowell, and Leo F. Tighe, III, of Saugus; his sister Mary Ann (Tighe) Mulherin and her husband Joseph of Loudon, TN; as well as an extended family of former in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Leo is also survived by his former wife Sherrin (Finneral) Tighe. Leo was predeceased by his brothers, Edward, Michael and Robert as well as his much loved dog, Rocky. FUNERAL NOTICE TIGHE—in Burlington, February 4, 2016, at Lahey Hospital, Leo F. Tighe, Jr., 73. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL on THURSDAY from 4 until 8 PM. Leo’s Funeral will begin on FRIDAY MORNING at 9 o’clock from the Funeral Home, followed by his FUNERAL Mass at 10 o’clock at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH (Upper Church) 144 East Merrimack St. Lowell.
