Leo A. Foley Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather Leo A. Foley, 96, devoted husband and father of 7, died peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, October 21, at his home in Tyngsboro, MA, where he had been living with his daughter Judy for the past 12 years. Leo was the beloved husband of Elinor M. (Barrows) Foley, who died in 2008 and to whom he had been happily married for 63 years. Leo was born in Lowell, MA, in 1922, the son of the late John J. Foley and Elizabeth (Mone) Foley. He attended Lowell schools and was a proud Veteran of WWII. He worked for much of his life as a truck driver in Boston, and retired as a truck driver for the State of Massachusetts. A longtime member of St. Margaret’s Parish, Leo was an altar server for many of his later years until moving to Tyngsboro. A loving and devoted father to 7 children, Leo spent much of his time engaging with the large family he and Elinor had created—7 children, 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and growing. Family and faith were of utmost importance to him. Leo was a talented drummer and artist, passing those gifts along to his extended family. He was a lifelong fan of boxing and the Boston Red Sox, and was looking forward to the upcoming World Series Championship. Leo is survived by 7 children and their spouses, Judith (Foley) Mendes and her husband, Manuel of Tyngsboro, MA, Joan (Foley) Fyfe and husband, Roy, of Mansfield, Texas, Leo M. Foley and his wife, Darlene (Haberman) Foley, of Nashua, NH, Gerald P. Foley and his wife, Donna (Upton), of Tyngsboro, Rita (Foley) Stahl and her husband, Michael, of Methuen, MA, Mary Lou (Foley) Rutherford and her husband, Mark, of Rollinsford, NH, and Anne (Foley) Edmondson of Goffstown, NH, and her companion, Richard Shaughnessy; 19 grandchildren and their spouses, all of whom he loved dearly; 23 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 2 sisters-in-law, Margaret (Barrows) Flannery and her husband, Joseph of Wellesley, MA, and Effie (Bikos) Barrows of Methuen, MA. Leo was also the brother of the late Rita M. Foley and John J. Foley. FUNERAL NOTICE FOLEY—In Tyngsboro, October 21, 2018 at his home, Leo A. Foley, 96, beloved husband of the late Elinor M. Foley. Friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL on Thursday from 4 until 8PM. Mr. Foley's Funeral will begin on Friday morning at 9 o'clock from the Funeral Home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 o’clock at ST. MARGARET'S CHURCH, 374 STEVENS STREET, LOWELL. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tewksbury.
