Jessie B. Horne Loving Mother and Grandmother Jessie B. (Choate) Horne, of Lowell, died the 29th day of November, 2011 at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center in Haverhill after a lengthy illness, aged 71 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Wilbert Horne, Sr. Born in York, South Carolina, December 2, 1939, she was a daughter of the late A. Y. and Beatrice (Boyd) Choate. She received her early education in the York school system, and attended York High School. Jessie met Wilbert in Lowell and they married in 1967, settling in Lowell to raise their family. Mrs. Horne became affiliated with CTI as a driver, and then worked at Raytheon Company as an assembler for a number of years. She was also a bowling coach at The Brunswick Zone in Lowell, and finished her working days at the former Tranti Systems Company as a solderer, before illness forced her to retire in 1984. Jessie loved to fish in both fresh and salt water. A natural athlete, she enjoyed competing in many recreational sports including bowling, softball, horseshoes and golf, to name a few. In her spare time, Mrs. Horne also loved to sing, play board games and cook - especially her famous Peach Cobbler, Sweet Potato Pie, and Dressing. She could Cook! Mrs. Horne loved feeding people and invited many people home after church for a “Huge” Sunday meal! Mrs. Horne was a long time member of New England Pentecostal Ministries, remaining dedicated and active in the church community even during her illness. “Mother Jessie” was devoted to her children and family, and an ever-faithful servant to God. She will always be remembered for her loving generosity and selfless acts of kindness. She was a mother to anyone who needed a mother. She never met a stranger. Mrs. Horne is survived by three daughters; Linda (Jackson) Burrell and her husband Clive of Wisconsin, Vickie M. (Jackson) Parker and her husband Phillip of Lowell, and Theresa M. (Jackson) Jenkins and her husband Randall of Lowell; Five sons, Edward Choate and his wife Judy of Lawrence, Adelbert Christman of Lowell, James Jackson and his wife Ann, of Nashua, Wilbert Horne, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Nashua, and Larry Horne of Lowell; two brothers, Bishop Stanley Choate and his wife Pastor Ruth Choate of Nashua, and Paul “Sonny” Choate of Lowell; one sister, Joanne Pires and three Sisters-in-law, Etta Mae Choate, Lucille Choate and Patsy Choate all of Lowell. She also leaves 36 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two Godchildren, Charmaine Lucas and Stanley Choate, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; her best friend, Sister Foreman, and two “Like-Sons,” John Choate and Daniel Christopher that have been right there before, during, and after her illness. Jessie was the mother of the late Dennis Frazier, and sister of the late Mary Lucas, Delores Lucas, Henry Choate, Jules Choate, James Choate, Willie Choate and William Choate. FUNERAL NOTICE HORNE—In Haverhill, November 29, 2011 at Hannah Duston Healthcare Ctr. Jessie B. (Choate) Horne, 71, beloved wife of the late Wilbert L. Horne, Sr. Family and friends will be received at the New England Pentecostal Church, 955 Bridge Street, (Rt. 38) Pelham, NH also (1 St. Margaret’s Drive) on SUNDAY DECEMBER 4, 2011 from 5 until 7 P.M. Jessie’s Funeral Service will follow at 7 P.M. with her brother, Bishop Stanley O. Choate presiding. Jessie’s burial services will take place on MONDAY MORNING, DEC. 5, 2011 at 11 A.M. in the family lot at WESTLAWN CEMETERY, Boston Road, Lowell, MA. Family and friends can meet at the gravesite.
