Henry J. Duffy “Harry” Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather LOWELL-- Henry (Harry) James Duffy, 87, passed away on Sunday, April 22. He was born in Lowell to the late Henry James and Loretta (Bernardini) Duffy on November 7, 1924. Harry proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the U.S.S Canberra (CA2) during World War II. Upon his discharge after the war, he married his sweetheart Germaine Marcotte and enjoyed 66+ years of wedded happiness. Harry worked for New England Telephone for 30 years as a telephone technician and supervisor, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Harry was an active sportsman, enjoying motorcycling, sail boating, kayaking, golf, bowling, fishing, skiing, and bicycling. Harry built and flew model airplanes and was an active member of the 495th R/C Squadron Inc. He also enjoyed his music, playing guitar, harmonica, accordion, and banjo, as well as singing in the church choir. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time every day with his wife, taking trips to the beach and rides to the country. Harry was a parishioner of the former Sacred Heart Church in Lowell and most recently, Holy Family Parish in Lowell. Harry is survived by his wife, Germaine, son Ron and his wife Rosanne of Freehold, NJ, daughter Kathy Cooper and her husband Gerry of Hudson NH, and two grandchildren, Jennifer Duffy and Christopher Duffy of San Diego, CA; also several nieces and nephews. He will be loved and missed by his family, always. FUNERAL NOTICE DUFFY—In Lowell, April 22, 2012 at Saints Medical Center, Henry (Harry) J. Duffy, 87, beloved husband of Germaine (Marcotte) Duffy. Mr. Duffy’s Funeral will begin on THURSDAY MORNING at 9 o’clock from the Funeral Home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 o’clock at HOLY FAMILY PARISH – ST. MARIE’S CHURCH, corner of Chamberlain and Grafton Sts. Lowell. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, E. Chelmsford.
