Gary A. Donnelly Loving Husband and Father Retired Tewksbury Postal Employee LOWELL—Gary Anthony Donnelly, Sr., the loving husband of Deborah A. (Firth) Donnelly, and a resident of South Lowell, passed away following a brief illness, on Monday, June 17, 2013 at Lowell General’s Saints Campus. He was 63 years old. Gary was born in Lowell on December 22, 1949, a son of the late Leo J. Sr. and Helena M. (Hebert) Donnelly. He graduated from the Sacred Heart Grammar School and Lowell High School with the class of 1968. Mr. Donnelly was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart for wounds received in action. He was honorably discharged in 1971. For over 30 years Gary was employed with the United States Postal Service. He retired in 2003 after many years as a window clerk at the Tewksbury Post Office. Gary loved sports and especially all the Boston Teams. He had a contagious personality and was always smiling. A true people person, Gary was a good listener and would talk to everyone he met. Some of his pastimes included traveling to Florida, playing golf, and going to the beach. He also enjoyed playing the lottery and trips to Foxwoods. Gary took meticulous care of his lawn and was proud of his yard. He enjoyed his Corvette and his motorcycle. He loved playing with his grandkids. Gary will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Deborah (Firth) Donnelly of Lowell; his two children, Gary A. Donnelly, Jr. of Plaistow, NH and Kimberly M. (Donnelly) Bramante and her husband Peter of Reading; his three adoring grandchildren, Samuel, Seth, and McKenna Donnelly; his sister, Nancy T. Donnelly of Dunstable; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Patricia Donnelly of Lowell, Thomas E. Firth, III and his wife Linda of Methuen, Richard A. Firth and his wife Brenda of Richford, VT, Valerie Fernald and her husband Brian of Chelmsford, and Victoria Firth Trudel and her husband Jamie of Nashua. Gary also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Donnelly was the brother of the late Leo J. Donnelly, Jr. who died in 2009. Mr. Donnelly’s Funeral will begin on FRIDAY MORNING, June 21, 2013 at 9 o’clock from the Funeral Home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 o’clock at HOLY FAMILY PARISH – ST.
