Mr. Francisco P. Rocha

Francisco Pacheco da Rocha, 85, of Lowell, passed away Monday, June 5, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. He was the husband of Maria Valentina (Areias) da Rocha, with whom he shared the last 60 years. Born October 10, 1937, in Terceira, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Francisco Coelho da Rocha and the late Maria (Emilia) Rosa Pacheco. Francisco was raised and started his family in Terceira where he worked for the Terceira Island Golf Club for 30 years prior to immigrating to the US on June 21, 1986. He worked for Prince Spaghetti in Lowell and later worked 30 years for Long Meadow Golf Course prior to his retirement. He was a communicant of Saint Anthony’s Church in Lowell. He enjoyed working as a groundskeeper and maintaining his lawn, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, his survivors include his five daughters; Celina Teixeira, and her husband Luis; Lina Faria, and her husband Francisco; Lidia Borges, and her husband Carlos; Susana Menezes, and her husband Luis; Silvia DeMelo, and her husband David. He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he adored, Daniel Faria and his wife Jennifer; Stefan Teixeira, Monique Menezes, Michael Menezes, Devan DeMelo, Siera DeMelo and Dario DeMelo as well as his great-grandchildren Gabriela and Alexander Faria. In addition, he leaves his sister Ricardina Lopes of Toronto, ON, brothers Jose & Luis Rocha of Toronto, ON & Manuel Rocha of Terceira and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents and in-laws, he was welcomed into heaven by his beloved grandson Júlio Faria and his siblings, the late Fernando Rocha and Olivia Lucas, both from Toronto, ON as well as his sister-in-law Conceicão Pires of Lowell and brothers-in-law José Areias, Eduardo Pontes and Francisco Valadão. **UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION** On WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14 2023 all are welcome to attend their calling hours from 9 -10:30 am at Fay McCabe Funeral Home in Lowell. A Funeral Mass for both Francisco and his wife Maria will follow at 11 am at St Anthony’s Church, Central Street, Lowell, MA. Procession will follow for their burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tewksbury, MA. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the St. Anthony’s Church in Lowell in lieu of flowers.
