Corrine T. Wiitala Loving Mother and Grandmother LOWELL—Corrine T. (Bowzer) Wiitala, a kind hearted soul, passed away on Sunday morning, October 2, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, following a valiant battle with cancer. She was 68 years old. Corrine was born in Boston on May 18, 1948, a daughter of the late Herman L. Wiitala and Kathryn T. (Flanagan) (Wiitala) Duguie. Corrine’s Dad, Herman died when she was young. Louis Duguie, her mother’s second husband, helped to raise her, and she was always grateful for the relationship she had with Louis. For many years Corrine was a Home Health Aide and Patient Care Assistant. Corrine was made for her job, for her natural and innate ability to care for people. She loved all sports, especially football. She enjoyed watching movies. Traveling up North to her brother’s house with the grandkids was always a favorite trip. She loved going to the beach when she was young. Corrine was a giver. She was a loving, caring, and compassionate person, always looking out for others and putting their needs before her own. Corrine was dedicated to her family, and especially to her grandkids. She never missed a sporting event or school show. Family time, be it cookouts, special events, or the holidays, was when Corrine was most happy. Being around the ones she loved and cared about was her greatest joy. Corrine showed unwavering strength throughout her illness. She did not want to be a burden to anyone. She did not shed a tear until the very end, and her family, her caregivers, the ones she loved, were all there for her. Surviving Corrine are her four children, Dion Bowzer of Lowell, Laura Bowzer of Lowell, Tammy Hegarty and her husband Bob of Townsend, and Shane Bowzer of Boston. Corrine was the mother of the late Rachel R. (Bowzer) Carney who passed away in 2013. Corrine also leaves her fiancé, Joseph Scrima; her 10 grandchildren, Kevin Avila, Jr., Cavan Collins, Bobby Hegarty, Jarrod Hegarty, Melissa Carney, Jeremy Carney, Kerri Johnson Bowzer, Shaylene Hegarty, Matthew Bowzer, and Giella Bowzer; 2 great grandchildren; her only sister, Louella Wiitala of Billerica; her 6 brothers, Carl Wiitala, Wayne Wiitala, James Wiitala, Herman Wiitala, Edwin Duguie, and Louis Duguie. She was the sister of the late Joseph Wiitala. Corrine also leaves her aunt, Mary Elizabeth Harrington; many sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and three special friends, Leonora Giovanangelo, Beatrice Wallace, and Bob Stevens. Corrine’s family would like to acknowledge the staff at the Westford House for their genuine compassion and care. FUNERAL NOTICE WIITALA—In Westford, October 2, 2016, Corrine T. Wiitala, 68, of Lowell. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL on FRIDAY from 4 until 8 PM. Mrs. Wiitala’s Funeral will begin on SATURDAY MORNING at 9:30 AM from the Funeral Home, followed by her FUNERAL MASS at 11 AM at ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST PARISH, 1 SCHOOL ST. TOWNSEND.
