Colin B. MacDonald, Jr. Of Chelmsford, Teacher, Coach Avid Golfer and Skier CHELMSFORD—Colin B. MacDonald, Jr., 61, of Chelmsford, died peacefully, Sunday, February 20, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Esther (O’Keefe) MacDonald to whom he was married for 37 years. Colin was born in Woburn, MA on May 9, 1949, the son of Catherine A. (Powers) MacDonald and the late Colin MacDonald, Sr. Colin is survived by three children and their spouses, Kerry Roark and her husband, Joseph A. of Pelham, NH, Kaley Dee and her husband Jeff, of Reading, MA, and Colin MacDonald and his wife Rebecca (Molloy), of Brighton; three grandsons, Colin Joseph Roark, Hugh Brendan Roark, and Liam O’Keefe Dee; his siblings, Ron MacDonald, MD of Fort Lauderdale, FL, the Reverend Kevin MacDonald, CSSR of St. Croix, and Karen (MacDonald) Leavitt and her husband Mark of Plymouth, MA. Colin also leaves many nieces and nephews. Colin received his education at Arlington Catholic High School and Merrimack College. Colin taught in Billerica, MA for 33 years before retiring in 2007. He was an active member of many clubs and organizations, including Mount Pleasant Golf Club, in Lowell where he could be seen on most Sunday mornings ready to “tee it up.” He coached hockey, tennis, and soccer for many years in the Merrimack Valley as well as officiated baseball, soccer, and hockey throughout the Greater Lowell area. He loved golf and traveling but most importantly Colin enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He considered himself “the most successful man alive” because all of his children were happy. Family and friends are invited to attend Colin’s Funeral Mass on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2011 at 11 o’clock at ST. MARGARET’S CHURCH, 374 Stevens Street, Lowell. Please go directly to the church. At his request, there will be no calling hours or procession from the Funeral Home. Colin survived Multiple Myeloma for many years, which is a miracle.
