Mr. Charles E. Early

Charles E. Early Well known Bartender LOWELL—Charles Edward Early, 69, a Lowell resident, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at his home, following a brief illness. Charles was born in Lowell on March 4, 1946, a son of the late Charles and Shirley (Tarmey) Early. He was a graduate of the Sacred Heart Grammar School and Keith Academy. Charlie went on to study at Boston College. He entered the Army in 1968 and served in Army Intelligence, doing a tour in Viet Nam from 1969-70. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home and later graduated from Boston State College in 1978. For many years Charlie was a Supervisor for the Unemployment Office in Yarmouth, MA. Back home in Lowell, Charlie was the well-known Bartender at the Whipple Café on Lawrence Street, having worked there for 37 years. At the Whipple he was Charlie was a very intelligent, well-read individual. He had a pleasant personality that put people at ease. He loved the comradery of his patrons at the Whipple. He enjoyed his annual trip to Saratoga with his friends to watch the horses run. He was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. Charlie never married but did enjoy family gatherings and holidays when everybody would get together. Surviving Charlie are his sisters and brother, Marcia Callahan and her husband James of Lowell, Brenda Cronin and her husband Bob of Hudson, NH, Edward “Ned” Early and his wife Mary Jo of Nashua, NH, and Jill Boisvert and her husband Paul of Pittsburg, PA; his uncle Edward J. Early, Jr. of Lowell; also many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins on both the Early and Tarmey sides of the family. Charlie leaves many friends including his dear friends Fred Webster and Paul and Nancy Silva. FUNERAL NOTICE EARLY—In Lowell, May 24, 2015, Charles E. Early, 69, a Lowell resident and well-known Whipple Café Bartender. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL on SUNDAY, MAY 31, 2015 from 2 until 4 pm. A Funeral Prayer Service will take place during that time to which all are invited. Burial will take place privately in the family lot in St. Patrick Cemetery.
