Anne B. Neary Loving Mother and Grandmother LOWELL—Anne B. (Costello) Neary, 86, the wife of the late Assistant City Clerk William P. Neary, passed away on Thursday morning, September 1, 2011 at D’Youville Senior Care Center, following an extended illness. Anne was born in Lowell on July 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Richard S. and Helen (Moran) Costello. She was educated in Lowell Schools and was a graduate of Emmanuel College and Salem State College. Following her graduation, Anne was employed with New England Telephone Company in Lowell as a service representative. Anne took some time off to raise her family, then returned to New England Telephone Co., working for a short time. Prior to her retirement, Anne was employed by the City of Lowell at the Pollard Memorial Library. Anne was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, and traveling, especially to Germany, Aruba and Florida. Anne loved celebrating the holidays with her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. She loved Kimball’s Chocolate Ice Cream and Nickles Dairy Ice Cream. Anne also enjoyed reading about the history of Lowell. Her musical interests included Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett and well as many classical pieces. Anne especially enjoyed vacationing and spending time with her grandchildren at Cape Cod. Surviving Mrs. Neary are her three daughters, Brenda A. Neary, M.D. and her partner Marsha A. Harris of Shrewsbury, Linda E. Neary, Esq. of North Chelmsford, and Maura H. Tuohy and her husband Thomas M. of Tyngsborough; two grandchildren, Christine A. Tuohy and Kara M. Tuohy, both of Tyngsborough; two nieces, Claire Abrams and Patricia Neary of Lowell; two nephews, Jack Neary and James Neary of Derry, NH; two great nieces and a great nephew, and her best friend and “great grand dog,” Molly. FUNERAL NOTICE NEARY—In Lowell, September 1, 2011, Anne B. (Costello) Neary, 86, wife of the late Asst. City Clerk William P. Neary, and a longtime Lowell resident. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL, on MONDAY from 4 until 8 P.M. Mrs. Neary’s Funeral will begin on TUESDAY MORNING at 8:30 A.M. from the Funeral Home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 9:30 A.M. at ST. MARGARET’S CHURCH, 374 Stevens St. Lowell. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
